What are Custom-made Orthotics?
Custom-made orthotics are specially-made shoe inserts that goes in your footwear, designed to support, correct and comfort your feet. Your podiatrist will go through a complete biomechanical assessment and evaluate your body especially the lower extremities in regards to stance, gait and muscle/joint function to determine how the orthotics will be made.

How are Custom Orthotics Made?
First, your podiatrist will listen to your complaints and conduct a full biomechanical assessment to analyse your gait, stance, muscle and joint function. Together with your symptoms and history the prescription of the orthotics will be made. Then we take a 3-D image of your feet with a laser scanner that precisely measures the contours of your feet. In your second visit, our podiatrist will fit the orthotics into your shoes and make sure they are comfortable and providing you the wearing instructions.
Custom orthotics typically cost more than off the shelf inserts you find in retail shops, but the extra cost is definitely well worth it. Orthotics are properly measured and designed to fit your feet and provide you the right amount of support and correction just for you. Orthotics are also made with durable material that will last many year when cared properly.
